Don't Fill Up at ExxonMobil Stations!

A new article just released on Advocate.com reveals that mega-corp, ExxonMobil, still refuses to treat everyone equally in the work-place.

Despite strong efforts to include sexual orientation & gender identity into the company's EEO, the shareholders have decided they just don't care and have continued to vote against equality.

Meanwhile, 85% of Fortune 500 companies include sexual orientation in their nondiscrimination policies -- all Fortune 50 companies have it as part of their official policy -- and more than 35% include gender identity.

"ExxonMobil continues to have the dubious distinction of being the only Fortune 50 company that refuses to add sexual orientation and gender identity to their nondiscrimination policy and is stuck in the ever-shrinking minority of businesses that don't offer domestic-partner benefits," Joe Solmonese, Human Rights Campaign president, said in a release.

-Excerpt from the Advocate.com article.

To put it in simple terms... ExxonMobil can LEGALLY not hire someone just because they are gay!

And you all know that ExxonMobil makes bank right?? In 2008, their reported profits were $45.2 billion. That's a LOT of 0s! And that profit comes from every time YOU fill up at one of their above stations.

So let's just stop using ExxonMobil until they agree to treat all their employees equally with respect.

There's plenty of competition out. Check out HRC's list for better brands to use when filling up the tank. The top choices being: BP (Amoco, Arco), Chevron (Caltex, Texaco), and Shell.
