Rockstar Laywers Not Happy About Savage Tie-In

There's been some new developments in the issue with Rockstar Energy Drink as previously mentioned on this site and others.

Apparently the lawyers for Rockstar were none too happy to have people reporting any sort of connection Michael Savage may have with the company.

Don't Fill Up at ExxonMobil Stations!

No! http://www.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/Images/exxonMobilLogo.jpg No! http://www.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/Images/essoLogo.jpg No http://www.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/Images/exxonLogo.jpg No http://www.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/Images/mobilLogo.jpg

A new article just released on Advocate.com reveals that mega-corp, ExxonMobil, still refuses to treat everyone equally in the work-place.

Despite strong efforts to include sexual orientation & gender identity into the company's EEO, the shareholders have decided they just don't care and have continued to vote against equality.

Meanwhile, 85% of Fortune 500 companies include sexual orientation in their nondiscrimination policies -- all Fortune 50 companies have it as part of their official policy -- and more than 35% include gender identity.

"ExxonMobil continues to have the dubious distinction of being the only Fortune 50 company that refuses to add sexual orientation and gender identity to their nondiscrimination policy and is stuck in the ever-shrinking minority of businesses that don't offer domestic-partner benefits," Joe Solmonese, Human Rights Campaign president, said in a release.

-Excerpt from the Advocate.com article.

To put it in simple terms... ExxonMobil can LEGALLY not hire someone just because they are gay!

And you all know that ExxonMobil makes bank right?? In 2008, their reported profits were $45.2 billion. That's a LOT of 0s! And that profit comes from every time YOU fill up at one of their above stations.

So let's just stop using ExxonMobil until they agree to treat all their employees equally with respect.

There's plenty of competition out. Check out HRC's list for better brands to use when filling up the tank. The top choices being: BP (Amoco, Arco), Chevron (Caltex, Texaco), and Shell.

Levi's Mannequins: Wearing White for Equality

Good on Levi's!

Levi's have begun tying White Knots around their mannequins in 20 of its stores in big cities like San Francisco, NY, LA, and Chicago.

In case you don't know, the White Knot is a new symbol of marriage equality created by Frank Voci. You may have seen several stars at the recent Academy Awards wearing the White Knot. For more info about the project check out their website.

Levi's use of the White Knot is especially timely due to the recent poor ruling from the California Supreme Court upholding inequality in the State's constitution in the form of Prop 8.

It's great to see a quality brand from a company that has existed since the 1850s doing its part to support equality for all.

Now you know where to buy your next pair of jeans!

If there is a store near you take pictures of the mannequins and send them to spenditright@gmail.com along with the location of the store. We'll post them here on the blog!

Anti-Boycott: Pepsi

Hate-mongers, American Family Association (AFA) is calling for a boycott of Pepsi. Apparently their panties are in a twist because Pepsi is a member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. Big whoop!

The NGLCC works with LGBT-owned & LGBT-friendly business as an advocate. You can read more about the NGLCC on their site.

The AFA is asking their drones to call the PepsiCo Board of Directors' Concern Line at 1.866.626.0633 to tell them you are boycotting....

So instead.. what can YOU do??

TAKE ACTION!

01. Call the same number: 1.866.626.0633 and THANK them for being a member of the NGLCC and tell them you'll continue to use their products.

02. Contact Pepsi online and tell them you'll continue to buy Pepsi Products (EXCEPT FOR ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK!).

03. Keep drinking those Pepsi's! They even have a snazzy new logo for you to look at ;)

This is especially important because the AFA already intimiated other big companies such as McDonald's and Wal Mart for the very same reasons. DO SOMETHING!

Another Hotel Doing Its Part to Help Promote H8

http://images.hotel-rates.com/hotels/SAC_SHER-exter-1.jpg

The Sheraton Grand Sacramento will be housing a Yes on Prop 8 DestroyProtect Marriage.com Event on Tuesday 26 May 2009 for the leaders of the H8 campaign to discuss the decision once the California Supreme Court makes its ruling.

Couldn't the Yes on H8 group house the event at a church somewhere rather than a public hotel??

If you were thinking about staying at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento, or having your own event there, perhaps you could search elsewhere..?

Contact info for the hotel:

Sheraton Grand Sacramento

Can Gays Be Bought?

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZfc16FnqaGQbxb1urUctEqzn68l4JsyCwglPfwakpAtJtMjLHiz-fHoOeh0SVthNwGXh-WlW4VXYi1-l_o90O85SmMDmmLaTx3Yb1xL07nNpkwWoLcHdFsmcybKQtzv0nE6sTOtapz5fC/s320/11-Boycott-projected-on-Hyatt.jpg

Back in 2008, Doug Manchester, owner of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, donated $125,000 to the Yes on Prop 8 campaign. The same campaign that stripped the rights of a minority group and created a subset of second-class California citizens without equal constitutional protections.

Manchester's donation caused an uproar amongst those who support equality who then called for a boycott of the hotel.

Well "Papa Manchester" (as he likes to be called) must be feeling the heat, because he is now trying to buy back the gays by donating $25,000 to a group that supports civil unions and domestic partnerships (NOT marriage). Additionally there is a mention of a $100,000 in-kind donation. For those of you not so great at math, that adds up to $125,000.

However, we strongly question the motives behind Manchester's recent move. Is it really make it right for someone to just throw their money at a problem in the hopes of correcting it for themselves?

Has Manchester had a true change of heart thusly now understanding the meaning and importance of equality for all? Or is this merely for economic-self serving?

You decide.

Better Think Twice Before Ordering that Vodka - Rockstar!

http://www.seattlehurlingclub.org/website/blog/images/rockstar.jpg

This totally disappointed me when I first read about it on OMGblog!

Allegedly, the makers of Rockstar Energy Drink are a bunch of ingorant homophobes! Not only that, but it's being reported that they have made some very uncool comments about autistic children. How RUDE is that!?

Rockstar was a nice alternative to other more expensive energy drinks due to it's larger quantity for about the same price. But is it really worth paying several pennies less per ounce if those $2 are going to go to support homophobic individuals?

The primary creator/CEO of Rockstar Energy Drink is Russell Weiner. His father, Michael Weiner is also known as Michael Savage. And Russell Weiner's mother, Janet Weiner is the CFO.

Check these links for more info:

The Bilerico Project

The Truth About Rockstar

If the Rockstar CEO supports full LGBT equality, then why haven't they come out and made a statement??

What's worse, PepsiCo just signed a distrubution deal with Rockstar to last 10 years.

TAKE ACTION (choose 1, or all 3!):

01. Sign this letter.

02. Ask that your local bar/club not serve Rockstar any further until the makers issue an apology and make ammends.

03. Contact Pepsi and let them you won't be buying Rockstar! (Or call them at 1.800.433.2652)

04. Join the Boycott Rockstar Facebook Group.
